Freeze the Day – Cool Stuff from SPLAT!

To most people, July 11 only means one thing: Slurpee Day. A free dose of frozen sugar water with a brain freeze chaser? Umm, yes, please.

Now look, we’ve got absolutely zero affiliation with 7-Eleven or their revolutionary beverage machine… but we’re all about celebrating the good stuff in life. So, can we just go ahead and call it SPLAT! Day too? Cool. Done. It’s official now.

To mark this completely made-up holiday, we’ve got a little something for ya. Drop us a line with the promo code “RefreshMe”  and we’ll hook you up with a free stash of summery sounds: production FX, imaging workparts, and enough sunshiny energy to make your station sound like it’s wearing flip-flops.

Limited time. One per customer. First brain freeze is on you.

Stars, Stripes, and Sweepers

There’s something about the 4th of July that resonates a little differently when you work in radio. It’s loud, proud, rebellious, and honestly, kind of the perfect metaphor for what we do every day in radio imaging.

Imaging is freedom of expression at full volume. It’s the ability to shape a station’s identity, stand out from the rest of the stations in your market, and say something that matters, even if it’s only six seconds long. From the crackle of fireworks to the roar of a crowd, July 4th gives us the perfect excuse to celebrate and have a little extra fun with sound.

So, whether you’re laying down a star-spangled sweeper, lighting the fuse on a promo, or just adding a little patriotic punch to your weekend programming elements, remember: celebrate in style and be thankful for your creative freedom.

Happy Independence Day from all of us at SPLAT!

Fun With The Family – SPLAT! Welcomes MediaOne

Everyone at SPLAT! HQ is fired up to welcome the MediaOne Radio Group to the SPLAT! CUSTOM IMAGING family! This awesome group of five stations is about to get the full SPLAT! treatment: custom branding, top-class production, and the kind of creative imaging that engages audiences and drives listenership.

We’re thrilled to pair each station with some of our top-tier voice talent: Rachel Logan on WQFX, Steve O’Brien on WKZA, Lori Wild on WJTN, Glen Hanson on WHUG, and Janet Ault on WWSE.

Local radio deserves standout sound, and that’s exactly what we deliver. With SPLAT! CUSTOM, imaging is easy, awesome, and done right the first time. (Hey, we’re people pleasers…what can we say?)

Need a boost in your station’s sound? Let’s talk. We’ve got the team, the talent, and the tools to make it happen.

Compress Without the Stress

Compression is like Spanx for your audio. It holds everything in place, smooths out the lumps, and keeps your mix sounding tight and polished. But squeeze too hard, and your mix is gasping for air, and everything gets very uncomfortable very quickly. Or something like that.

Lucky for us, Robert has found a plugin that tightens things up without cutting off your mix’s circulation.  Over to you RD…

If you’re producing modern, high-impact radio imaging, this week’s featured free plugin is one you’ll want in your toolbox. TDR Kotelnikov from Tokyo Dawn Records is a clean, transparent digital compressor. It’s ideal for controlling dynamics in voiceovers, sweepers, promos, and music beds without adding unwanted coloration.

Unlike analog-modeled plugins, Kotelnikov is proudly digital, designed from the ground up to offer precision and flexibility. It’s especially effective when you need to keep your mixes punchy, clear, and consistent across all playback platforms.

Your New Studio…for the Price of a Plugin

You’ve finally got your studio just right for mixing.  The sound treatments are strategically spaced, external noise is at a minimum, your mix monitors are angled perfectly, and you are now in the zone.  Or, is it all just in your head?  It could be.

Here’s Robert with his latest pick, the inspiring audio plugin from Lewitt, Space Replicator.

Lewitt’s new Space Replicator plugin brings the experience of high-end mixing rooms straight to your headphones,  no treated studio required. Using high-resolution virtual acoustic spaces, it simulates professional environments like Vienna Synchron Stage, the Watergate Club, and even car interiors or smartphones, so you can hear your mix exactly as it will translate in the real world.

PSP Wobbler: A Game-Changer in Modulation Effects

PSPaudioware has just dropped an innovative modulation effect plug-in, PSP Wobbler. This groundbreaking tool was inspired by the legendary Alan Parsons and developed in collaboration with him. It recreates and elevates the iconic sound of the Frequency Translator, a handmade device by Keith Adkins that famously shaped the unique modulation effect heard on Pink Floyd’s “Time” from The Dark Side of the Moon.
