Stay Cool – SPLAT! Summer Survival Guide

There’s no way to sugar coat it, and even if there were, the sugar would be melting. This heat dome is making it extremely hot, almost everywhere. Outside, inside, there’s no escape. Maybe your studio AC is struggling to keep up, or perhaps you’re testing the upper limits of your antiperspirant while you’re sweating through another “urgent” promo that’s due in… oh, look, 10 minutes ago.

But here’s the good news in all this hot mess: It’s can be pretty easy to do a mental reset when you are feeling hot and stressed.  Here are five things to try:

  • Breathe slow. In through the nose, out twice as long.

  • One task only. Forget multitasking, just get the current piece done, then move on.

  • Talk to yourself. “I’ve got this” works better than “Oh sh*t, I’ve gotta hurry.”

  • Check your posture. Realign your body in front of your workstation. Feet flat on the floor, back straight, good hand position…you know the drill.

  • Reset. If all else fails, get up and walk out of the studio. Get a cold drink or splash some water on your face, then come back fresh.

And always remember, when the pressure’s on and temps are skyrocketing, SPLAT! has your back.  It’s like a frosty-cold beverage for parched radio imagers, helping you breeze through your imaging work so you can go stand in front of an open freezer door.  And here’s the point of this post: We’ve got a free summer survival kit for you, all you have to do is drop us a line and put “Summer of SPLAT!” in the subject line.  Easy. Breezy. Done.
