Stars, Stripes, and Sweepers

There’s something about the 4th of July that resonates a little differently when you work in radio. It’s loud, proud, rebellious, and honestly, kind of the perfect metaphor for what we do every day in radio imaging.

Imaging is freedom of expression at full volume. It’s the ability to shape a station’s identity, stand out from the rest of the stations in your market, and say something that matters, even if it’s only six seconds long. From the crackle of fireworks to the roar of a crowd, July 4th gives us the perfect excuse to celebrate and have a little extra fun with sound.

So, whether you’re laying down a star-spangled sweeper, lighting the fuse on a promo, or just adding a little patriotic punch to your weekend programming elements, remember: celebrate in style and be thankful for your creative freedom.

Happy Independence Day from all of us at SPLAT!

How to be an Audio Wizard. (Hat & Beard Optional.)

When TRYNITY HDFX producer Robert Dudzic gets excited about an audio tool, it’s usually worth paying attention. This week, he’s digging into Steinberg SpectraLayers 12, and if you think it’s just for cleanup, you’re about to miss the real magic.

The new Steinberg SpectraLayers 12 is here, and it’s a serious upgrade for anyone working in sound, especially radio imaging producers. This isn’t just about cleanup or editing. SpectraLayers 12 opens the door to creative sound sculpting with unmatched precision.

I personally use SpectraLayers in my own sound design process, and the new version is a huge step forward. From isolating specific frequency details to removing unwanted noise, it lets me deconstruct and rebuild audio in a way that no other tool can. (more…)

Stay Cool – SPLAT! Summer Survival Guide

There’s no way to sugar coat it, and even if there were, the sugar would be melting. This heat dome is making it extremely hot, almost everywhere. Outside, inside, there’s no escape. Maybe your studio AC is struggling to keep up, or perhaps you’re testing the upper limits of your antiperspirant while you’re sweating through another “urgent” promo that’s due in… oh, look, 10 minutes ago.

But here’s the good news in all this hot mess: (more…)
